A Summer Not To Be Forgotten

Enough" by Sarah McLachlan.

"Dear Sally,
Everything came together all at once. Like an epiphany, as Noel would
call it. My decision had been made, and all I had to do was make it happen.
I left the dorm in a complete rush, yet I felt as if I were floating. I got
into the cab and told the driver to take me to JFK Airport. When I got there
I paid the driver, and was off to the gate. I couldn’t find Noel anywhere,
and there wasn’t anyone by the gate. Suddenly, all of my senses shut down,
and I felt as if I was going to collapse. Then I saw him, he was watching
me. I slowly walked over to him, not knowing what to say or do. Then he
spoke..."

“Hey, listen before you say anything, I have to tell you that...”

"He asked me to sit and then he kept talking..."

“I don’t think we should do this”

"On the outside I listened as if I didn’t have a care I the world, but on the
inside my heart was breaking."

“I’ve been thinking, and I don’t think we can ever get back to the way things
were.”

Hey your glass is empty
it's a hell of a long way home
why don't you let me take you
it's no good to go alone
I never would have opened up
but you seemed so real to me
after all the bullshit I've heard
it's refreshing not to see
I don't have to pretend
she doesn't expect it from me

"I couldn’t believe it, everything he said in that letter, everything that
had happened seemed to not mean anything to him."

“I’ve got to go, my flight’s going to take off, bye.”

"He turned around and began to walk away, when I finally spoke..."

“Noel...”

"He turned, and I began to walk toward him."

“Goodbye.”

Don't tell me I haven't been good to you
don't tell me I have never been there for you
don't tell me why
nothing is good enough
Hey little girl would you like some candy
your momma said that it's OK
The door is open come on outside
no I can't come out today
it's not the wind that cracked your shoulder
and threw you to the ground
who's there that makes you so afraid
you're shaken to the bone
and I don't understand
you deserve so much more than this

"And with that he boarded the flight, without me."

"The second he was out of sight, tears began streaming down my face. I
walked as fast as I could to the nearest restroom, and let it all out, I
cried for what seemed like hours."

(On the plane)
(Noel finds his seat and sits, he notices the empty seat next to him and
seems upset, yet he doesn't do anything.)

"At this time we need all visitors to leave the airplane." a flight attendant
said over an intercom.

Suddenly, without any thought, Noel got his things, and walked off of the
plane.

"Sir, if you don't go back onto the plane right now, you will not be able to
get back on." The ticket woman as Noel walked straight past her.

"It doesn't matter" he said as he frantically searched for Felicity.

Don't tell me I haven't been good to you
don't tell me I have never been there for you
don't tell me why
nothing is good enough
Hey little girl would you like some candy
your momma said that it's OK
The door is open come on outside
no I can't come out today
it's not the wind that cracked your shoulder
and threw you to the ground
who's there that makes you so afraid
you're shaken to the bone
and I don't understand
you deserve so much more than this
