Synopsis of The Break-Up Kit
Written by TK
Molly returns from rehab in England happy and clean. She also found some of Elena's favorite expensive facial stuff and agrees to give Elena a facial right away. In the process, Elena's corneas get burnt, leaving her temporarily blind. Molly escorts Elena to one of her classes, where a friendly guy named DeForrest offers to take notes for Elena. Elena ends up chatting with him on the phone later, and they agree to go out. Molly tries to tell Elena that DeForrest is not the greatest looking guy in the world, but when Elena rambles on about how great it is to get to know someone with the whole appearance things getting in the way, Molly keeps her mouth shut. Elena's eyes heal and DeForrest comes to pick her up for their date. Elena opens the door and is a bit shocked. DeForrest tells her that if, now that she's seen him, she doesn't want to go on their date, she should just say so now so that neither of them waste their time. Elena says she definitely still wants to go, and they end up having a wonderful time.
Felicity has gone on a mad painting spree while stressing about Ben. Ben calls her and asks to talk to her and they meet at the bar. Ben tells her he's confused. She tells him to go ahead and take the time he needs to figure stuff out. She goes back home to madly paint. Meanwhile, Avery stops by Dean & DeLuca while Ben is working and invites him out to her house in South Hampton. He's reluctant to go, but she assures him that it's a party, so other people will be there, and he can have his own bedroom. He agrees to go.
Meghan tells Felicity that Ben went to South Hampton with Avery. Felicity freaks out and realizes that she and Ben may just have broken up. Noel stops by to comfort her and gives her a make-shift Break-up Kit to cheer her up. He is in the process of making her his Aunt Eunice's famous beef stew, when she suddenly decides that she needs to go to South Hampton and tell Ben that she loves him and that she wants to work through this with him if they can. She realizes that if he had told her what she told him when they last spoke, she would think he didn't care at all. She knows if she doesn't do this she'll regret it for the rest of her life. She calls a friend of Avery's finds out where the house is, borrow's Sean's cousin's car, and heads out.
In the morning, Ben calls Felicity's apartment looking for her, but all he gets is a piece of Meghan's mind. He shares an impromptu kiss with Avery in the kitchen of her house and then she takes him out to her pool party and introduces him around. Felicity shows up and she and Ben go off to talk. Felicity tells Ben how much she loves him and how much she wants to be with him and how much she hopes they can work through this. Ben is blown away that she drove all the way out to tell him that, but all he can offer back is that he's still confused. She says okay and leaves.
Ben and Avery get back to the loft. Avery is worried that he didn't have a good time, but he assures her that he did. He finds that he got that poli-sci test back (the only he almost cheated on with Avery's help). He's very happy to see that he got a B-minus, but when Avery sees his grade she says that it's too bad and he should have used the tests she gave him.
When Felicity gets back, no happier than when she left, Noel is there with the stew that she never ate and they share a happy meal. Felicity thanks Noel for being so supportive. Noel starts to tell her how he feels about her, but Ben shows up and he and Felicity go to her room to talk. He tells her that he was confused about death and what he shared with Avery, but when he got his poli-sci grade today and Felicity wasn't there to share in his joy, he realized how much he needs her and still wants to be with her.
The next day Felicity tells Noel how grateful she is for his friendship and what an amazing guy he is. Noel is uncomfortable, but graceful.
Meghan holds a seance to talk to her dead dog. Sean makes fun of her, but participates, along with Molly, at Meghan's insistence. When Meghan isn't getting any response from the dead, Sean continues to mock her, until suddenly a breeze blows that candles and Meghan speaks in an old New York Jewish grandmother voice. She is Sean's grandmother, and tells him how she had to go because his grandfather was calling and plus her lungs weren't working too well. Sean doesn't want to believe that Meghan is really channelling his grandmother, but then she tells him that in the closet in her old room, there is a present just for him. She snaps out of it and asks what happened. Sean is blown away.
Sean calls his parents and asks them to look in the closet of the room where his grandmother used to stay. Meghan overhears him and tells him that she was just kidding, she was trying to teach him a lesson for making fun of her. He is pissed.
Later on, Sean finds Meghan outside of class and tells her that his parents found $2,000 in the closet. Meghan thinks he's trying to trick her, but he assures her that he's telling the truth. He says that Meghan may have been making it up, but some of it was definitely real. Meghan is reassured that she actually had communicated with her dead dog in the past. Sean tells Meghan to go out buy those red boots she wanted but couldn't afford. Just put them on her credit card and he'll pay her back when he gets the cash from his parents.
Meghan walks into the loft sporting the cool new boots. Sean tells her he was tricking her, there was no money, he's not going to pay her back for the boot, and that should teach her a lesson. She's remarkably calm about the whole thing... 'cause she actually put the boots on his credit card.
